Altrincham & Hale Photographic Society meet every Friday (except Bank Holidays) from September until May. The meetings start at 7.30pm and run through until about 10pm.
We also hold bi-weekly meetings from May until September.
We have four internal competitions on a set subject, plus an open section each season. These competitions are for Prints, Digital Projected Images and Slides. The prints and digitally projected images are on seperate evenings. They are judged by outside and inhouse judges. Members are encouraged to enter the LCPU annual competition.
The society is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union. To learn more about these organisations follow the links on our Links page. We are also members of the Trafford Arts Association.
Subscriptions are currently £40 pa for adults.
The society was formed following an initial meeting of 15 people on the 21st March 1895 in the then newly built Mechanics Institute not far away from the present day House of Frazer Building. The members were professional people, with the exception of the First President, Mr Joseph Drinkwater, who was the proprietor of a decorating business located where Station House now stands. There was just one female member!
